Author - Domonique Jackson, MPH, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, CBC
Domonique Jackson is a Registered Nurse who has a passion for various topics including nutrition, infant mortality, breastfeeding, mental health, and childhood education. Her admiration for writing children’s books started early in life as a pre-teen, in which she used her vivid imagination and creativity as a way of expression. Domonique mentored kindergarteners in high school and also volunteered at a church daycare during college. Her appreciation for health led her to a career in nursing where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Belhaven University. After graduating, Domonique entered the healthcare field taking care of infants and teaching mothers proper care, feedings, and warning signs for infants. She valued education and preventive care so much that she obtained a Dual Master’s from the University of Memphis. With a Master of Science in Nursing Education and a Master of Public Health, Domonique took her knowledge and skills to the community by joining United Way of Greater Atlanta where she dealt with public health and political issues head on. She recognized the many childhood nutrition and educational issues that we are facing in our country today — a detriment to future generations to come. Her education background, research on public health issues, and hands-on experience as Registered Nurse were the catalyst behind creating her first children’s book Harry, the Healthy Hippo!
Domonique Jackson is currently an Adjunct Faculty Coordinator, providing education and professional development to Registered Nurses, Preceptors, and Nursing Students in the Maternal-Newborn department. She is active in her community as a leader of United Way of Greater Atlanta and a volunteer of the Fulton County Library System. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Domonique Jackson is a Madison, Mississippi native and currently lives in Atlanta, GA with her Yorkie Bella.
